Metal Fusion repairs individual aircraft parts as a limited-specialized service repair facility. We have operated as FAA repair station CG3R422L since 1985, and we are in compliance with the AS 9110 quality system.
We utilize welding, thermal spray and machining techniques on parts manufactured of titanium, aluminum, magnesium, inconel and other high temperature alloys. We have developed a number of our own DER Repairs. Our inspectors are certified for Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI) per NAS 410.
Metal Fusion works with fuel cell components, both new and refurbished. Using one dedicated booth and plasma unit for white ceramics and another for dual arc wire coating, we are able to give our customers a clean product with uniform consistency. Our five thermal sprayers bring experience from the thermal spray industry throughout Silicon Valley. We can machine custom features into your existing parts, and we support the application of a variety of different coatings. Our metallurgical lab is set up to test thickness, weight, roughness, hardness, and adhesion, and we can perform cross‑sectioning to inspect the microstructure of the coated layer.
Metal Fusion started business in 1985 repairing aircraft parts with nearly 100 years experience in that field. Since then, MFI has evolved into a business that repairs a wide range of parts. Combining our welding and thermal spray capabilities with our large capacity lathe (200″) and boring mill (48″x48″) we are able to weld, coat and machine parts of various sizes. Much of our repair work is done on shaft bearing fits. Keyways or deep damage are weld-repaired, and large areas are restored and then coated with a more wear-resistant surface. We also repair pump seals and packing fits on shafts. We also service railroad, light rail, food processing, and power generator components.
Metal Fusion has coated various semiconductor equipment components using a variety of different materials. We have sprayed shield kits, deposition rings, wafer pedestals, static chucks, heating elements and baffle plates. Using dedicated plasma units for white ceramics and metallic coatings, we are able to give our customers a clean product with uniform consistency. Our thermal spray technicians bring experience from throughout Silicon Valley. Our advanced equipment includes 3 individually filtered booths, 2 of which are equipped with new Metco Model 9M Plasma Systems each with Fanuc M16i robots; the 3rd booth supports TAFA 9000 dual wire arc and Metco plasma systems.
